The exploitation and degradation of the world's ecosystems proceeds at alarming rates: every three seconds, the world loses a forest area equivalent to a football field. The loss of forests and wetlands is depriving the world of vital carbon supplies at a time when humanity faces the greatest climate crisis ever.
The emergence of the COVID-19 epidemic has shown how disastrous the consequences of the loss of natural ecosystems can be.
Contrary to what one might imagine, 80% of global deforestation is linked to our consumption (Source: WWF, How much forest have you eaten, used or worn today? 2020), especially as regards raw materials such as meat, soy, oil of palm, coffee and chocolate. Due to unsustainable production and consumption, the cultivation and harvesting of these products has caused the loss of 420 million hectares of forest over the past 30 years.
On the occasion of World Environment Day 2021 (https://www.worldenvironmentday.global/), which is celebrated every year on June 5th, with the E-CUP line Medac wants to reiterate the importance of using products that do not contribute to loss of forests, but which indeed help to ensure positive impacts on the environment, people and the market. A contribution can derive from small daily gestures, for example by choosing FSC-certified paper and cardboard products, which first provide the origin of the material from transparent and sustainable supply chains.
By choosing products bearing the FSC logo, you can make your contribution to safeguarding the world's forests.
