Also this year Medac supports the innovative professional career of Italian cuisine in Kenya, dedicated to young people from the shantytowns.
“"More and more our professional course is viewed with interest by the community, not only by students but also by parents who come to ask during the year to enroll their children. This year’s class is very heterogeneous, and we hope it will give us many satisfactions" these are the words of Valentina, the General Manager of Alice For Children.” queste le parole di Valentina, la General Manager di Alice For Children.
At the beginning of September the students entered the accommodation (Alice Village) where they will stay for the duration of the lessons and workshops. These are some pictures of the meetings with the faculty, and of the participants who dress the official uniforms of the Accademia Italiana di Cucina Alice and a list of the activities provided during the lessons: learn how to create shortcrust pastry with eggs and without, Pack cookies with brisée pasta, cook apple pies, and tidy up the kitchen.
We tell you about Charles Owino, his story is similar to that of many other children helped by the Alice Village, who for many years has been working in the slums of Nairobi.
Charles joined the project in 2010, at the age of 5, and was entrusted to AliceVillage when the family could not support him and his sisters.
Growing up in the village he always dreamed of returning permanently to his mother and sisters, whom he visited during the holidays.

Thanks to the support of the Association and his parents at a distance, Charles was able to study, deepen the passions of sports and music and have access to healthy nutrition.

After primary school, he was reintegrated into his family, continuing to receive support for his education and health care.
Charles studied hard until he arrived at the high technical schools of food&beverage and now thanks to Medac he was able to attend the school of #aifa that will help him find his way in the world of work.
